I’m a Lumberjack and I’m OK…

[singlepic id=52 w=320 h=240 float=left] This is the song I’ve had stuck in my head for hours at a time and yes, it is indeed annoying!  It’s there because wood is a bit of a focus of life here.  If we’re not chopping it down and clearing from the land then it’s being slowly processed for firewood and kindling.  There’s a massive annual delivery of unprocessed logs which sits in yard and is gradually chain-sawed up into smaller chunks and then each one chopped.   Then there’s the stacking and seasoning ready for winter.  The large sheds which surround the yard store tons of wood and are carefully managed.

[singlepic id=53 w=320 h=240 float=right]Chain-sawing was a little scary at first but with safety gear donned it was all seeming a little more manageable.  As for axing, it’s definitely a skill to be honed.  Being the talented golfer that I am, I kinda thought I’d have a pretty good aim but of course an axe is a slightly different kind of club.  We were soon getting into the swing of things though.  Livy saves up wood-chopping for colder days cos it quickly warms you up!  Over-indulged in the cake / sweets / crisps today?  No problem – just chop up a few logs and you’re soon back on track!
